How to choose an arborist?

Arborist services are offered by many companies and people in the market. Since it is a responsible and often dangerous job, we give some tips to pay attention to when choosing an arborist and to take into account when ordering the service.

Check the professional certificate

When choosing an arborist, the most important thing is to make sure that it is a qualified professional, i.e. the service provider has a professional arborist certificate. The presence of a professional certificate proves that the person you have chosen to do the work has acquired the necessary skills, passed the professional exam, and you can trust him with peace of mind to perform such a difficult and dangerous job as, for example, felling a tree.

The professional certificate is issued to a person by name, and you can check its validity in the register of occupational qualifications.

Make sure the arborist has previous experience

If you have checked the existence of a professional certificate, it does not guarantee a good work result. The rule “practice makes perfect” applies here. Make sure that the specialist has enough practical experience in the field to be sure that you have chosen the right person to carry out the work. We recommend members of our Society because we guarantee that they have long-term experience and good theoretical knowledge.

Appropriate equipment

Before starting the work, make sure that when ordering the services of an arborist, he has all the necessary tools (airlift, treeclimbing equipment, stump grinder cutter, etc.). Please note that the arborist wears a helmet and eye protection when climbing a tree, and his work clothes are designed to work in black and wet conditions. If the arborist arrives at work with a slightly dirty or worn look in his work pants, this is a sign of the experiences stored on his clothes. Do you want someone to plant your trees or take care of them, who is not afraid to get their fingers or clothes a little dirty?

Please note that when arborist is felling a tree using treeclimbing equipment, at least two people must perform the work, and the support person on the ground is also a specialist with rescue capabilities, i.e. an arborist. The support person must also have personal protection and climbing equipment!

Detailed overview of the work area

A responsible arborist thoroughly familiarizes himself with the situation before starting work. He will prepare a detailed overview of what kind of solution to your problem is needed and what activities he will carry out for it. If you get an unclear answer to your needs, contact another professional. This is a responsible task, and you don’t want any surprises later when doing this job.
